I’m surprised that so many people want Wis to end up with Saltis. Wis ending up with the sword would suck tbh. He’s not supposed to be a love interest; and I don’t think his personality fits well with Wis anyways. His purpose is to serve his true master, not fall in love. He’s not human.
(If we’re trying to pick another ML that’s not Lloyd or Saltis, the best ML would be the researcher with the glasses that Wis worked with imo. He’s the one who saw her who she was; a kind, smart and hard working person. Even after many years, he cared about her reputation and not wanting Lloyd to speak badly of her (if I’m remembering correctly)).
I personally like Lloyd as the ML and like seeing the contrast in his character vs his father’s character. I like seeing Lloyd and Wis relationship grow as they handle both of their traumas/baggage. I understand that it’s weird for them since “technically” they’re related (not through blood). But they weren’t socialized as family members. I think the more important dynamic that they have is this master/disciple.
I don’t think Wis is as weak as some people say she is. I think it’s incredible how she’s endured after so long. She’s a noble lady who never learned how to fight. So I think it’s amazing that she’s survived and learned how to fight well enough on her own. Her resilience is amazing.
