Probably because the man is the one with power in this situation. The wife is generally an arranged marriage so her families status or wealth can surpass her personal looks and personality or lack thereof. Rich kids are often spoiled and given a feedback loop making them believe they are worth more. Plus kids tend to lash out at the things or people their parents react badly to. History has given us the tropes since they are based off of what came before. Are they shitty? For sure. But they are common tropes because they read well to the most amount of people. It's why tele novelas and other daytime dramas have a dedicated viewership.
Why is it that the legal family is always painted the bad and abusers??? Like why?! Can't they just all gang up the Father. Coz if he just kept it in his pants then nothing of this illegitimate child will happen. Also... Why is it that in stories like these the legal wife is the ugly and bad one then the mistress is the pretty an good one. Not to mention the legal child is a dumb bitch like why?! What's the point???
