can't say for other joseon bls but for this one it actually shows a reason as to why mc stays away from any type of relationship- he is a widowed royal consort and in the first chapter it was stated that he can't remarry like ever and he can't take any concubine either. It's strictly law and Uimyeong, being the uptight law abiding citizen, have been sticking to the rules till now. It all kind of adds to his charm too and doesn't make him a one dimensional character. Also not to say here you can actually get punished if you lay a hand on royal consort, widowed or not lmao so it's a lot more deeper than what it seems ar first glance. As for kang heon, his debauchery is a mere front. He's trying to establish his reputation as this carefree muscle headed soldier who only thinks with his dick so that everyone thinks he's not a threat to the throne or upper echelon of the palace. Everything is part of his plan (he succeeds to piss off Uimyeong like this too so it's a W for him lol)
Why do alot of joseon bls have male leads who actively engage in debauchery, and make mcs as the opposite? Also it would have been great if the mc is not some fresh flower and pure throughout his life even if he lost his spouse cuz afterall hes still human
