The set up and subject was so interesting, though the beginning was too rushed, it normalized the assault of the co-main and made it lose its impact as a mode of storytelling for the story. Despite being supernatural, with deities and magical thinking, there was little visual representation towards that, which disappointed me. I personally didn't feel any connection between the main characters to have the climax be impactful either. A moment of transparency: one of my biggest fetishes is the concept of a bottom being worshipped through sex, so this story was something very interesting to me. However, the fact that it was never consensual really bummed me out. The transactional status of sexual intercourse from tradition to modernity is such an interesting subject and perspective that could have really taken this story to the next level, but the shallow writing and heavy reliance on rape porn as "easy character development" I feel really let the potential of these characters down. I didn't even get to see the main character who was a journalist even write anything down. :/ I know obviously I'm asking too much for this short story to have density, but that it had so much potential to be someone's favorite someday really shows how much it lacks.
