Did the artist really think that people would love the change in the story ?
I can't imagine drawing so beautifully and taking hours of your time each week to give the best possible adaptation to a story that many novel readers liked just to end up changing the villainess ending and expect readers to agree with you on that even after showing them the absolute suffering the villainess happily gave to the mc, a child like her and the only person who truly cared for her
And the reason for the change is just that the artist liked Marianne ? Just go write a fanfiction then ! The one redeeming himself was supposed to be mc's brother who had remorses and died with Marianne, apologizing to the mc. Marianne was neglected as a child but it DOESN'T make her someone deserving of redemption, she is evil and had not a single regret about mc's death, she deserved to die
Anyway too bad for the artist who did so much efforts to adapt this story just to ruin the ending
