Theory time:
What if MC was a bird deity with wings, Amon and him got in love but Amon for some reason removed his wings/divinity? (With all the obsession that it was Amon to make him a god while he keeps having bad memoriea).
I also bet the ritual makes sure he forgets his old memories, what he lost and how depressed he is by it all; also the person Amon met by the river that used to play is MC for sure, and it's kinda sad how MC probably forgot the reasons he fell in love with Amon together with the other memories, but also how Amon hurt him? This is all just my brain rambling theories, not real spoilers BTW
