I really love this manwha, idk why people don’t like it? It’s really realistic and it shows how love can be expressed in many different ways, especially when it’s been broken and mended. Professor Lee (Suyeon) is a character who seeks pleasure in BDSM because he truly believes that being called worthless or treated pathetically will make him feel loved as who he is. He believes it’s a way to cope with what his father has done to him, making him an outcast and blaming Prof Lee for looking just like his ‘whore’ mother. Prof Lee found solace in Gyeol (his first love) because he reminded him of his father. He truly believed that Gyeol was this replacement of his father who actually did love him and always came back to him when he needed him when in reality, Gyeol was making him worse and treating him badly. When Prof Lee started dating Yoonho, he believed at first that Yoonho was this replacement when Gyeol left to study abroad, not realizing that Yoonho was actually helping him truly find love. Yet, Prof Lee “corrupted” Yoonho in order to fulfill his sick desires of being mistreated and beaten. Yoonho ended up finding his true desires in finding it pleasurable to choke or hit someone while doing it, and he began to be afraid of taking it too far when beating Prof Lee. That’s when Yoonho wanted them both to stop for the sake of both of their mental and physical health. But, Prof Lee couldn’t just stop, he needed a reminder of being worthless, he needed to be treated poorly because that’s how he seeks being “loved”. Prof Lee couldn’t deny his desires when Gyeol came back in the picture. He truly didn’t love Gyeol, but he needed that sense of mistreatment and corruption. But Prof Lee realized it wasn’t right. Finding solace in Gyeol wasn’t what he wanted. He truly wanted to feel loved and appreciated while also fulfilling his sick desires. Yet, he pushed away Yoonho because he believed he deserves someone better than him. Because all Prof Lee’s life he’s been a hollow moon shaped jar with no way to express his true feelings or know of his own true emotions. That’s why when Yoonho broke things off with Prof Lee and Gyeol kept him locked in his place, he couldn’t find the strength to go back to Yoonho because he felt like he disappointed him and he didn’t want to see him again. He feared Yoonho hated him. Prof Lee thought that being with Gyeol will fill that void for him now, but he was wrong. He loves Yoonho more than anything. The letters he wrote were what he couldn’t express in person. Being upfront and honest about his true feelings was something he isn’t used to. So yes, during the time of being away from everyone and living alone he could’ve chased after Yoonho. But, before all that happened and he ended things off with Gyeol. Prof Lee mentioned he wanted to try to love himself first. At least heal himself little by little before giving the letters to Yoonho and meeting him again. He also feared that Yoonho didn’t want to see him again. The time they spent apart were what they both needed. To fully think about what they want for themselves. Being back together, Yoonho and Prof Lee are now healing together in a healthy relationship than before by taking therapy and fixing their past mistakes. Prof Lee’s tattoo and cigarette burn are reminders to himself of his past mistakes, reminders to never do it again or refer back to his past. That’s why he still keeps it. And when they truly are healed together, he’ll finally remove them as a way to show that he’s moved on and ready to face the present and future with Yoonho. I love this manwha, and I truly am amazed at the beautiful story. Also I love that Yoonho gave carnations to Prof Lee during teachers appreciation day which symbolizes love. And when Yoonho gave lilies to Prof Lee after learning that harsh truth from Gyeol, the flowers represents rebirth, wanting Prof Lee to move on from Gyeol and form a new relationship with Yoonho with a sense of purity (a relationship without any bdsm tendencies). Anyways that’s my take on this manwha! I really hope we get to see side stories of them!! ٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶
