The reason why yall find this like a 180 and uncharacteristic is coz yall have been chanting almost that taekyung has this masterplan to escape and hurt heeseo back, which has never been the case. This story has always been abt two mutually (low diff) obsessed characters and both of their weird nasty personalities.
Taekyung had many opportunities to make his escape, why didn't he take none? Coz he didn't want the repercussions to find heeseo. That one ch when they were fucking in the car and a random person was standing outside, why didn't taekyung scream? Coz he didn't want the cops called on heeseo and then him being jailed.
Lets be clear that taekyung isn't completely a floor mat, but he does tend to let heeseo off the hook pretty easily. Taekyung did find the things heeseo did to him to be fucked up, but now he understands where heeseo was coming from. Heeseo kidnapped him coz he was scared that they would make taekyung take the fall.
And the physical and mental abuse that Heeseo did to taekyung on top of the kidnapping is explained in probably my favorite ch of the season, ch 81. Heeseo wanted to hurt taekyung. That way in his mind he would have secured a permanent place in taekyungs heart even if it mean taekyung would hate him. Heeseo all throughout the story has been the tree without roots, a lonely kid trying to plant himself (make a permanent connection) into taekyung. That's also why taekyungs scars look like tree roots. They are permanently bound together.
Maybe we could have used a couple more chapters where taekyungs mind and thoughts could have been layed out clearer. But tbh taekyung to me has always been since s1 the character I have a harder time understanding. until I realised he is also fucked up.
