Look, I get it, the incest and minor parts are uncomfortable as hell, and I’m not defending that at all. That stuff is disturbing, and if it were “fixed,” the story would obviously feel very different.
But all the comments here are just surface-level takes. People are confused about why MC goes back and forth, but it’s really obvious if you think about the psychological reasoning. His attachment to his cousin isn’t romantic, it’s trauma, gratitude, and intense emotional bonding. And his feelings for Jimin? That’s genuine romantic love. He’s caught between those emotions, and the story is meant to make you feel that tension and heartbreak.
The story works because it’s morally and emotionally complicated, not because it’s “random” or “nonsense.” If you’re only reading what happens on the page and ignoring the psychological layer, it makes zero sense and that’s on the reader, not the author.
For me, this is exactly why the story is so heartbreaking and compelling, even with all the discomfort. The author nailed the messy, emotional realism, and I think a lot of people just aren’t seeing it.
MC not “growing” or having a neat resolution isn’t a flaw. !!IT’S THE WHOLE POINT!!. This story isn’t meant to be a tidy self-growth arc; The tragedy is in MC inability to reconcile his feelings.
omg i agree 100%, it’s just so depressing and i find myself pitying all the characters in this story so bad bc it’s not rlly any of their faults it’s just involuntary emotional conditioning.
