Ngl when I found out something similar (won't get into details), I was disgusted and beyond disappointed and I was around 16-17 too ironically. It was during covid, so I wasn't able to make such a rash decision even if it could've happened, but I understand why ML hid it from him. He is a child, literally just starting highschool, being basically threatened by the adult and father of the man he deeply loves (which that in itself would pose a direct "issue" in their country), so what is he supposed to do then? And in the same instance, I think the mom likely asked him not to tell Seijin cause of possibly triggering something dangerous for his memory and overall wellbeing, so it looks like a second betrayal when its again not the case and a misunderstanding of sorts in its own right. I'm actually more upset Seijin took it out on ML over the dad cause its the father at complete fault here. And I'd say the parents in both instances if the mom did in fact ask him to hide it from Seijin rather having him seek therapy to slowly deal with the obviously very traumatic memory that almost made him lose his life twice now. Not saying ML is completely abstained of fault in this situation, but when it comes to trauma and memory loss you HAVE to approach it with caution or it can lead to dangerous consequences. Overall a very bad situation unfortunately for all parties (except dad fuck him)
