I kind of understand why they didn't burn down the house in the end, it's probably because all of the memories and feeling MC had shared with ML there, it might be a bit silly, but during his struggling times, it was one of the things that kept him going or sane. It was where the root of his tragedy begun, and the beginning of his everything with ML.
