mentally ill boy finds companionship in an alien bug. unfortunately he is a child who does not really understand or respect life so he’s lowkey abusive/neglectful lol. and unfortunately the alien bug is also a child who has known nothing else so she grows attached too.
to me kiji seemed very depressed and lonely, but could never open up to people and find real support. he would much rather run away and so finds comfort in someone who would never judge him or leave him.
and then his comments on how gross and disgusting ogeha is seemed pretty much in line with how the rest of the people talked about bugs, yada yada author commentary on the value people place on different lives imo.
