With respect, I don’t think about media literacy. She hated because she hides behind her fake innocence while Ruby take all the heat. Again and again. Ellen manipulates others into seeing her as the poor victim and she benefits from Ruby’s downfall. And it’s completely intentional, she isn’t clueless about what she does. People hating on her understood her character, and find well-written. But being well written doesn’t mean being likable.

Oh shit. Sorry my bad, I’m always having troubles with their names. But if people hate on Ellen —the real one— I think it’s because she preferred bonds over seeing the truth. Which we can’t really blame her. Obviously you would prioritize and believe the people you grew up with and loved than someone with an heavy history like Ruby and that’s new to your life. What could be triggering, are that we’re reading this story on Ruby’s pov, so we feel how deep everyone’s hostility (the maids, Ellen’s friends, the nobles) is towards her. While vaguely knowing how those same people respected, loved and cared about Ellen and Izek. And, because we had to watch too much painful things to Ruby before Ellen stepped away from her ‘world' and see the truth. That’s what I think the reasons are for her haters. But I don’t think she deserved the hate. But, sorry again to have been so quick to correct you while I was in the wrong.
genuinely and i mean GENUINELY i need people SOMEBODY to explain to me why ellen is still getting so much hate like plz help me understand bc i feel like her "haters" lack media literacy
