To be fair, the marriage with Hathor isn't called "the right thing" because Hathor's a woman, but more importantly, for a strategical reason since Hathor's presence there, being Ra's beloved child as she is, invokes Ra's protection, acting practically like a protective shield: all the time Hathor's been at the palace, they say that is what's been keeping the currently defenseless Egypt safe (from foreign invaders and other catastrophes, etc) until now, because it's her presence there inducing Ra to actively use her supreme power to protect the place where her daughter currently is... (Meaning, that while they all "think they know" that Ra favors Hathor, they're unsure about what Ra feels about any of the rest of them... so they can only attribute Ra's latest "benevolence" to them, to Hathor's presence among them).
As a queer person, horus being relatable af rn id also crash out if my lover tried going back to their ex and told me to marry someone of the opposite gender cuz thats "right" and what we had was some exchange or comfort and nothing more like shut upppp
