Its probably to get his story out of him and to get him vulnerable so at some point he'll lower his guard almost completely with him. There's just no other way to get out lmao.

If he reacted like how his mom reacted and started crying or idk get angry at him and tell him how he actually feels dude would probs lock him up to the bed again and that'd just be lost progress.
