i think they are divorced its mentioned when he took a loan, they divorced so the amount would split or maybe i read it wrong...
They are not divorced legally but they are estranged. He left her with all the debt because he does not respect her in the slightest. This is the reason why we hate him so much. He cheated on her, left her with the debt to worry about and still has the audacity to still try to crawl back just because he’s bored. I’ve been dirt poor like this and I would never resorted to treat the people I LOVE like sh*t. He never loved her and thats what they are going in depth with in this chapter.
