Pretty sure Nobu's pulling/keeping tje car door open and asking where's Azami headed to (which seems to lead or suggest Azami's suspicion of Nobu already). As for Kathy, she's an FBI agent, who might be an ally? She might be investigating MRCH directly, which is how she met and fell in love with Hal at some point and also discloses information from the FBI's investigation to Hal.

I just re-read Canis: The Speaker to figure out what's going on too Zakk flits the story back and forth to different time periods, which makes for quite the (amazing) detective story for readers to piece together.

Adding to what Rahn said, Kathy was an ally of Hal when he was a cop as they both were investigating mrch, she also mentioned them using each other, but if you’re asking about whether she is an ally or not now, most likely not or at least not yet as she isn’t aware of anything between those 3

Thank you for clearing up that door part! And you seems right about that is what lead azami's suspicion to nobu. As for the ally part i was asked before, i actually referred it to the one who's interrogated kathy and also the 2 girls alumnus from mrch (i guess they both are from one organization).

Omg, I'd def love some recommendations too. I just found out the Canis series is technically Zakk's first series so I might try checking out her other works.

Oh! As Jiahan said, the CIA interrogator seems like a new character so not too sure if he's an ally or not.
