I think the story was great despite the ending being a lil, just a lil rushed, it managed to execute what it wanted to without feeling like u were left with more questions than answers.
You can tell that there were still some loose ends to tie, but it’s not unsatisfactory and overall it’s for a very good story with a kick ass lead and a very enjoyable romance.
anyway, now that that’s outta the way - I know he ain’t the a main but HUI had my whole heart. He’s like that tragic side character that MCs transmigrate to marry. His story is so sad and compelling, it’s disappointing it wasn’t expanded on more but like I said it’s probably because the story as a whole didn’t expand much more than it needed to. You get that he’s a tragic character, but not many characters give him grace. You’re suppose to understand that it’s due to his “mischievous” nature, but due to the pacing and short range of the story, it makes it hard to see him as such since he barely got those scenes. If anything, he seems more sad and depressed, yearning, self sacrificial, and misunderstood before you really see his mischief. And to go back on his backstory? WITH SPOILERS - you see his dad is abusive but that’s about it. There’s no more expanding on his hatred of the clan, no more expanding on WHY he liked the FMC, and nothing else than a freedom panel for when his entire clan gets destroyed. Like you can understand it’s a liberating moment, but there’s really nothing more with this character after that and ITS SO DISAPPOINTING SINCE HES SOOOOO GOOD.
he plays soooo well into a tragic 2nd ml if they had just utilized him right. Even the FMC’s distrust in him (which btw why kinda shitty since she also had the same distrust thrown her way continuously) would’ve been so much more compelling and sad had there just been a bit more…
It doesn’t even seem satisfying when you find out he clearly doesn’t betray her (even tho she still distrusted him) when the antagonist tells him to let him control her. And it’s nice to see him still kicking in the end of the story but the fact there’s no like recognition or anything of his character is so sad to me. I mean he’s a side character so I can’t really complain too much, but man.
I still liked him so much for beginning that they gave him and the potential I saw, and then the suffering afterwards to keep the FMC safe.
