The wholesome parts are the definition of wholesome.
Honestly, the main characters feel so human. I grew up struggling with my sexuality too, and the path to understanding that wasn't so pleasant, just like Mii-kun went thru (not saying I had same encounters) but I could symphathize with him seeking comfort to the nearest queer. Not defending Shizumu tho, he sould've known better.
Also not defending Mii-kun's faulty actions, like messing around the past 6yrs LDR when he and Kei clearly has a label, but i'm trying to understand cuz his character is a sad one and like the other comment said, he's living his life with hidden regrets. His only solace is Kei who happily accepts, understands and forgive him.
Mii-kun could honestly be a better character, and Kei's the perfect person for him to be with in that journey
