Sure his parents could be alive and well and have, by chance, finally made their way back home at the same time that MC finds out his grandparents are (mostly) alive...OR THE AUTHOR IS SETTING US UP FOR HEARTBREAK AND THEY'RE UNDEAD MONSTERS
