I never understood this, why is rape alone not a justifiable reason to hate a character? Or is it that the character can still be redeemed despite the fact they raped someone multiple times? Or am I misunderstanding your words?

you might be. the person said that the artist drew the explicit rape to make the readers hate the villain more. but if that's the only reason the rape is in the story (which is the only reason it's in this story; therefore unnecessary) then the author just cannot write a proper antagonist. obviously, rape can be a justifiable reason to hate a character but for this one there're multitudes of other ways to go about building hatred for him.

and I especially have harsh criticism for this author because both of their stories now have some sort of unnecessary rape in there

they did the same for the antagonist in their other story. he just ended up raping the uke and the seme come saves him. it's predictable, overused, and unnecessary

Ohh okay that wording makes sense the scenes are uncomfortable to read and they do seem to exist for no reason even if its to make us hate the ml which woudlnt matter since hes going to be "redeemed" in the end anyway. I completely agree with you

okay thats true idk i never really thought of it that way till u mentioned it. to me rape scenes making the readers uncomfortable seemed to be exactly the point to me, bc its meant to make u uncomfy and disgusted. like its not glorified or romanticised yk. plus i think rape is the worst crime of all so in some way i felt like its like the worst thing a villain can do. so like its an easy way to make a character disgusting + a really awful/evil person i guess so yeah i do get ur point and agree with it as well. ultimately i dont really have a problem with the rape scenes but its probably bc ive read so much bl/manhwa that ive gotten used to them atp. i do get uncomfy with some though it really depends. but yeah i get ur point!
