lemme preface by saying this that this story isn’t completely irredeemable in some aspects. I like how it doesn’t portray the female mc as this weak saintly compassionate figure who’s 24/7 in need of help and does the typical ‘kill em with kindness’ schtick. HOWEVER, I will also say that this novel condemns its villains for the same thing that the mc literally did!!
Now here are my icks. MC is hypocritical, and the manhwa tries its best to make it seem like she’s in the right. She was the one who enjoyed the benefits of having a reverse harem of strong men who were at her beck and call, but all of a sudden, now that someone else (aka Grace) is enjoying the same benefits as she did, she began hating on this woman she wasn’t even associated with? Everything she criticized the villainess about, lo and behold, are things she’s already done! MC was engaged to a man she didn’t love. Led on her two friends whom she clearly knew had feelings for her and by that I mean indulging in the things they gave her out of their own feelings and not directly putting an stop to them by confronting them about it or even just say “Hey guys, I don’t feel the same way as yall.”
Second, her comrades (the people who got manipulated) were even more of victims than her!! I don’t get how you can read about these characters who got manipulated and forced to do acts without their own consent, got their will revoked and became puppets, and still think they are lesser victims than MC. It’s not wrong to feel upset but girl, you never GAF about your comrades lmao. She treated them like shit and bopped them around like a toy instead of compassion even after finding out they were being manipulated. It just makes me assume she never cared that deeply about her friends in the first place. MC’s anger is justified, but it’s definitely misplaced.
Lastly, the romance is meh. It’s cute but I don’t know how man can forgive you and love you even after you stabbed him and nearly killed him, but that’s just me. The ML who’s a demon king who’s killed people is also someone who gives bread to orphans because suddenly he cares about humans too. 1+1=21 calculations. MC, you can’t claim to be someone who cares about people when your man is a certified murderer who thinks about killing people whenever an inconvenience arises. That’s like white woman living in the wealthy suburbs crying about children in third world countries logic. Overall, good story if you don’t think too much about it. It’s not revolutionary, but it’s a good read to kill time. The biggest victims are MC’s friends. Period.
