idk she was kinda forced into this role. didn't she just follow what was expected of her? defeating the demon king with those guys. and in the process of it she got close to them. seemed like they built genuine frendships, most of them, and then when grace showed up, these guys basically turned their backs on the mc and betrayed her. so she's rightfull upset about that. the thing is that grace is evil and mc isn't. i think ahe has the right to be upset at the situation and the guys who hurt her with their words and actions and most of all at grace. i do agree however that the guys were true victims. most of them couldn't help it, so despite hurting the mc, i think there should be a point where she forgives them after they show their loyalty for long enough. or at least treats them neutrally. just think about how difficult it is to see a person in a positive light after they give you the biggest ick ever. i feel like this is how the mc feels.
im sorry but did you read even read properly? she genuinely built a good relationship with the og mls during the expedition and imagine how'd you feel that you were in coma for three months and when you wake up the ppl who were beside you throw hateful words and insults at you? yes they're victims but 100% say fl isn't a victim either. and she was basically forced to play the role. i agree with your comment about romance but you can't just call the guys victims and call fl a hypocrite
I’m sorry but the guys ARE victims. They were forcefully fed hypnotic drugs without their consent and knowledge by Grace, forced to act out of character and commit acts they usually wouldn’t do. FL isn’t a saintess either imo, and I think she’s a hypocrite for the way she fully enjoyed the reverse harem benefit while she could only to turn around and criticize another girl for experiencing the same luxury treatment she did (even before learning that Grace is a bitch). Yeah, she doesn’t have to be mother mary & forgive her friends for what they’ve intentionally (mostly unintentionally) said, but jeez dawg ur friends literally just got manipulated under ur nose into becoming different people
to add on, yes, MC is a hypocrite and I stand by that. She’s hating on Grace while Mr Murderer 101 is standing by her side and even catching feelings for a literal demon king. And babe, if she cared about her friends that she’s supposedly built a good relationship with, why not do everything she could’ve to repair their fucked minds?? She’s out here dilly dallying with a man who’s unleashed a thousand demons on her world like the real enemy is right by ur side. She had 0 empathy for the friends she loved so much even after learning they were being internally messed with
Nah. She actually trauma bonded with those guys. When you go on expeditions and survive with people, you form almost irreversible friendships. Besides the fact that they didn't know Sellonia before the expedition, so she actually got to know them as herself. They never went easy on her and they never babied her until after the expedition was actually over. She struggled right along the rest of them.
And she absolutely acknowledges that the way she used to act with the guys post-expedition was unsavvy. She even says, "Is that how I used to act?" And is disgusted with herself. It's called character growth.
That's the opposite of being a hypocrite.
tbf. i do think that MC didn't "enjoy" the benefits of the male leads, I think she was genuine friends with them at that time, unlike the og!FL who objectifies them to the point of not gaf about their own self-will or the consequences of manipulating them. on that note, i will say that the MC is really selfish in her lack of empathy towards her old comrades' circumstances, given how she's unable to place herself in their shoes. i get that she's upset and feeling betrayed, but the lack of internal conflict or at the very least mild consideration towards how they didn't have any choice in the matter makes me unable to even root for her. bc as you said, they are victims of their current circumstances, and unlike MC, they're never gonna get that shit redeemed despite literally having no control over their individual actions. but i do think MC isn't really a hypocrite, since it's not like she and the other girl are in similar positions or mindsets. rather, MC is just a shitty friend imo.
Idk i feel like she's more mad about the way they treated her after they got cursed. The prince and the dragon acted like assholes as soon as she woke up from her coma. The priest was the only one that still had some sympathy and felt a little bad when he told her his feelings have changed. I think she would've been more accepting if they still treated her normally. "I like grace now but youre still my good friend" instead of "I like grace now dont talk to me anymore" but from what I remember the priest was the last one to tell her so she was already in a bad mood and im pretty sure the prince and dragon are the "hate everyone but their lover" type. Idk im just rambling but I get why she hasn't forgiven the prince and dragon.
by one of my points being that she “enjoyed” the benefits of a reverse harem, I’m mainly referring to the many precious gifts she received from the MLs, such as the dragon’s literal heart yada yada, knowing full well they were coming from a place of confession. I do think I might’ve been too harsh on calling her a hypocrite, but MC is not a good-natured character at heart. I literally can’t wrap my head around the concept of supposedly caring deeply for your comrades/friends, but not feel too prompted or in a hurry to free them from their hypnotism, and also use them acting out of character after being drugged to do so, against them. for example, how terribly she treated the priest friend of hers, even after being aware, and I mean, at that point, FULLY aware that it was all Grace’s doings. I guess another gripe of mine is how she’s so understanding and caring about humans, but jumps boat to date the demon king when there hasn’t been one redeeming thing about him except the fact that he “stood up” for MC when she was being criticized by her dearest friends.
I might also need to add this fact that she had recovered her full powers up until that point, but didn’t use them to cure her friends any sooner. making me LOL, like the guys are the true victims, bro…
maybe she just doesn't deeply care for her comrades? and even if she did before, she's allowed to have a change of heart. after being forced into her role and going through hardship she bonded with those guys and felt like she finally belonged and has found her place in this world. but then when suddenly everyone started treating her coldly out of nowhere, basically betraying her for another girl, her illusion of belonging shattered. it was painful and heartbreaking, probably traumatic for her. but then she meets tan who deeply loves and sees her as she is. their connection seems to transcend the world of the story, it's a different direction from what she has experienced up until that point, and it's someting that isn't dependent on the plot, a relationship more organic. meanwhile she learns the truth about the comrades being bewitched, but that doesn't take away all the pain she has gone through. she doesn't owe them her kindness and love, and her behavior actually makes her more human in this story. but this doesn't mean that she isn't inherently good natured. your point kinda opened my eyes to the nuance in this story and that just made me like it more. i also like that you're sticking to your opinion no matter what.
honestly, yeah. I agree with the first sentence. She does not seem to like her comrades THAT much and THAT deeply, like how she never GAF even when her engagement got canceled? how she doesn’t even like the blond guy yet continued to be in an engagement with him. I don’t think the story is that bad and actually like how the MC isn’t portrayed as weak, but it’s fine if she was continued to be portrayed as a selfish-minded person. Hell I’d love that for her. But it’s no use to argue she was the biggest victim of the situation, because her past comrades suffered even more. Harsh words might hurt her, that’s a perfectly normal reaction, but having to say and do things you can’t control? Having your own personality be completely overwritten by a new violent persona? That’s way different.
The story tries to whitewash its MC’s actions with the excuse that her shitty treatment towards her friend is morally justified, because they hurt her with words, when matter of act, it wasn’t even from their own intentions. She is not a good person just because she uses her healing powers on orphan kids, or because she’s a therapist for a demon king. And I do like ur points as well LOL. it’s lowk making me retract sum of my previous opinion. I’m glad you’ll still continue reading cuz I’m just tryna point out the hypocrisy of the manhwa, not bash it & this is quickly becoming too long LMAO
i'll be so fr, i did not read up to the point she got her powers back bc i couldnt buy into caring about the MC, i just never took it off my updates' list so i sometimes randomly come into the comments to see updates LMAOOO. but nah i don't think you were harsh at all, i think she's a shitty person who's way too justified and self-righteous in circumstances that really just are nuanced, i think i was just confused by the hypocritical point you made bc i misread what you meant by that. bc to me, the main villainous point of the other girl was that she clearly blatantly uses them and their feelings with zero regards for their livelihoods, while with MC, it felt like she at least to some extent believed that she treated them like humans with respect (though, her actions of dropping them and condemning them for being abused, even if she was targeted by them through those circumstances, speak otherwise). so ig that's why i was confused by the hypocrite part, but i get what you're trying to say.

lemme preface by saying this that this story isn’t completely irredeemable in some aspects. I like how it doesn’t portray the female mc as this weak saintly compassionate figure who’s 24/7 in need of help and does the typical ‘kill em with kindness’ schtick. HOWEVER, I will also say that this novel condemns its villains for the same thing that the mc literally did!!
Now here are my icks. MC is hypocritical, and the manhwa tries its best to make it seem like she’s in the right. She was the one who enjoyed the benefits of having a reverse harem of strong men who were at her beck and call, but all of a sudden, now that someone else (aka Grace) is enjoying the same benefits as she did, she began hating on this woman she wasn’t even associated with? Everything she criticized the villainess about, lo and behold, are things she’s already done! MC was engaged to a man she didn’t love. Led on her two friends whom she clearly knew had feelings for her and by that I mean indulging in the things they gave her out of their own feelings and not directly putting an stop to them by confronting them about it or even just say “Hey guys, I don’t feel the same way as yall.”
Second, her comrades (the people who got manipulated) were even more of victims than her!! I don’t get how you can read about these characters who got manipulated and forced to do acts without their own consent, got their will revoked and became puppets, and still think they are lesser victims than MC. It’s not wrong to feel upset but girl, you never GAF about your comrades lmao. She treated them like shit and bopped them around like a toy instead of compassion even after finding out they were being manipulated. It just makes me assume she never cared that deeply about her friends in the first place. MC’s anger is justified, but it’s definitely misplaced.
Lastly, the romance is meh. It’s cute but I don’t know how man can forgive you and love you even after you stabbed him and nearly killed him, but that’s just me. The ML who’s a demon king who’s killed people is also someone who gives bread to orphans because suddenly he cares about humans too. 1+1=21 calculations. MC, you can’t claim to be someone who cares about people when your man is a certified murderer who thinks about killing people whenever an inconvenience arises. That’s like white woman living in the wealthy suburbs crying about children in third world countries logic. Overall, good story if you don’t think too much about it. It’s not revolutionary, but it’s a good read to kill time. The biggest victims are MC’s friends. Period.
