well, prior to having to take the throne, he was basically public enemy number one. everyone wanted to kill him because he was too powerful. now that all of his enemies are gone, he realizes that he doesn’t have to keep fighting, which means he can step down from the throne. he wanted to be emperor simply to survive, but now that he knows he can live without being emperor—and be happy with this person—he’s going to choose that instead. The emperor worked so hard all that political fighting, surviving the body swap curse just to abdicate the throne just like that?? Guess he was over it and knew MC wouldn’t be able to handle court politics/schemes that to stay together better to leave that realm.
