i let this marinate after reading a few chapters previously. the first half was just that good for me and it felt refreshing to read but the second half? wtf was that??
first of all, there are so many plot holes. the og otome was based on a saintess. how is that not more relevant in the story? and the second prince was basically non-existent until the final chapters. his villainy felt forced. and how did carsen not escape the empress after becoming the duke? did he not gain any power at all after becoming a duke? and his death wtf? and prince kael? with his character i was expecting him to have a plan on how to deal with his younger brother considering his character i figured he would've been preparing for revenge but he basically looked like he had no backbone as the crown prince?
secondly, there was no proper development at all for the romance. jinsoo having feelings for carsen was out of nowhere. i thought we were gonna reach more chapters for that but it ended.
lastly, the side stories *sighs*. the smut doesn't excuse the poorly written explanations. and carsen in the side stories haven't moved on from his past life up until the end, it actually feels like carsen transmigrated to jinsoo's world rather than combining souls with his "self".
this story had the potential up until the second half. sad it came to be this way.
