Future and Past

Pretty sure author said that endgame is revealed this season, it’s already obvious right now.

I truly don’t think TJ and Ian = endgame due to how TJ is. I don’t know how anyone can have hopes for him because author is obviously showing his refusal to move forward with Ian. Notice how they can’t be endgame, always due to TJ holding back. But if he had wanted to, Ian would’ve married him asap. It’s too late:

“Let’s go back to how it was” — TJ fumbling

Some stated that Jo is a second option.

I understand 50:50 of readers are minors, so let’s learn!
This whole “first option vs. second option” framing is childish because it assumes love is a competition, when in reality the person who fulfills your heart and future is the real choice, regardless of who came first.

Think of it this way: What’s the point of being someone’s first choice if they can’t give you peace, love, or happiness?

Does it matter being someone’s first, if it doesn’t come with the care, growth, and love you deserve?”

The first pair of shoes might look nice, but they give you blisters. The second pair feels right, supports you, and carries you further.

I don’t really dwell on the “second option” because how is to fair to compare? Literally nothing one can control because even if it wasn’t Jo, there could’ve been other guys after TJ, it doesn’t hold any meaning to be the first. Get that through your head!

Being first or last debate in this situation is some kindergarten argument/topic.

TJ was Ian’s first everything, first family first love, etc. TJ just happened to be there at the right time to “save” him, it doesn’t always mean it’s the right person.

Or it could be the right person, but it wasn’t the right time. Both of these cases apply to TJ and Ian.

Jo potentially being Ian’s last is more meaningful than Ian’s first with TJ, for example. A first kiss is memorable for some time, but the last years of your life and kisses with your last person on earth is far more valuable than the past.

I like to think: “What I thought I wanted isn’t what I needed. But with you, I have everything I was waiting for all along.” because it’s about chosen love and progress, and finding what actually lasts in your life, would last for your life.

The first option could have been based on infatuation/codependent, and or expectation. The second option is based on reality, fulfillment, and growth. Jo is not just someone Ian could potentially settle for, he is the one who could possibly give Ian what he longed for but didn’t receive the first time.

Of course Ian will love that first person who was by his side. It’s like a duckling being born, finding the first they see and getting attached. But there may come someone else that can give him life, not just be in his life.

Just being in his life isn’t enough if nothing emotional is being fulfilled. Giving him life by being there, listening to him and not just sex, but also embracing him wholeheartedly is happiness.

So far Author has obviously shown that Ian and TJ is a thing of past, and Jo is his future. Second option may be the best option, numbers mean little to nothing when the quality is what matters. And in a lot of stories, the second male leads are favorable.

Plus Ian doesn’t really see Jo as a second option, he always puts Jo before himself and how he doesn’t deserve Jo. He’s seeing Jo in a good light, not a prize. I think some TJ Stans want that narrative that Ian just sees Jo as second option/prize, but that’s far from the truth.
