Technically, his death was more of a spur-of-the-moment situation than something he'd planned for a long time.

His life was depressing, but unlike Huiseo and Dahyeon, he tried to fight it head-on, only he was weak in the face of peer pressure and his family.

This also explains why he sacrifices so much to be a good friend, why he felt pressured when Huiseo asked him if he wanted to be reincarnated, and why Mugyeon told him she ended up there to help others, every time she helped Hiseo.
