I think the story is going a bit towards Dear, 00. Maybe he subdued to his small state to an accident that occurred with the ML. Similar how the Dear,00, the ML tried to take his life away and they were able to stabilize him but erased majority of his memories due to Michael/Eve request. I guess an injury ended up happening, since in the dream ML saw Ian’s bracelet as subject AP0, but Ian is AP1. Could be that ML got injured, the experiment had to be “redone.” This time around Ian is going to stay close to ML to prevent any injury occurring to him.
