Just my theory but Plant likely "bullied" Kalian in front of others so the attention will go to him n people will regard Kalian as not a threat instead. Hoping that his mother will change her view and never touch any of his family members. That's so tragic and sad though bcs in the previous timeline he failed to protect everyone
