Bro it's not supposed to be deep. It's supposed to be a GL version of the whole Villainess subversion. Like the typical "I became the villainess but I'm good but oh no the female lead wants to kill me because she thinks I'm evil"

FL was bullied her entire life by the protagonist (aka villainess), but since the protagonist got isekaied and showed FL the tinsy bitsy of kindness, FL incorporated the "obsessive duke of the north" trope.
