1. I think the translation is messed up but she does refer to him as father in law
2. He is the next head of the family so I would assume it’s one of those situations where, although he doesn’t have children of his own, his successor would be considered his “son”.

1st she called him father, now it's father-in-law...? How can he be a father-in-law, he doesn't have sons of his own. While she still calls the other one, adoptive mother
