as much as we are illegal readers, pirating has always been a thing. if you really want to blame someone blame the top dogs who don’t pay the authors enough and keep the money to themselves. if the employer employed more people to help the artist there might be less health issues as well. heck if the readers’ employers paid enough and we had money to spare to support artists who create (like how rich people used to sponsor or commission artists) that would help too yk?

this just reminds me we’re constantly in a class war. all the gender, race, etc. wars that happen are noise to cover up the growing class difference between the elite and not

As much as I get your point, reading this is a luxury. I think it’s easy to forget that certain things are not entitled to us, it’s fun, but not needed. At the end of the day if we look at how many of us read illegally (even if some of us buy the chapters in support) I’m sure it would help fill their wage significantly if we all bought the chapters and fund all the things you say they need, we are an issue even if pirating has always been a thing because pirating a movie is wayyyy different from pirating a digital ongoing comic. Blame is all around here, not just the elites… I just think it’s funny you’re reminded of a class war, because of a hiatus of a pirated manhwa that currently has an ill author.

poor people deserve to have fun too. they deserve to read shit like this too without having to compromise their needs.

how is pirating a movie different from pirating this manhwa?

yeah we can be blamed too, but pirates have been basically the punching bag for ages. it is always our fault, it’s the poor person’s fault. what about the people at the top who create, exploit, and continue this system?

i am reminded from reading the comments not really the hiatus

Often times in movies they’re all already rich actors + look at the directors, already big corporations. It’s this saying (I can’t remember it exactly) but it pretty much means to steal from big corps..and support small businesses, I’m not saying we can’t have fun but I’m saying let’s not act like this is a necessity when we can have fun within our budget. We aren’t the victims in this instance, let’s not act like reading manhwa is the pinnacle of poor necessity, cause let’s be real- I bet you a good chunk of people pirating CAN afford to buy a chapter or two here and there, it’s that they don’t want to spend it when they can get it for free + in a timely manner. Nobody is stoning anyone’s mother, but let’s be real we are an issue…pirates aren’t the “punching bag” for no reason..it’s because WE ARE AN ISSUE we are continuing the very system you speak of. Stop using poor people as a way to make yourself feel better + try to take pressure off about the fact that what we are doing is ILLEGAL and hurts the author PERIOD..stealing food is different from pirating a manhwa, because one is a necessity and the other makes life fun.. there are other ways to make life fun, we just choose this. Two things can be true, but stop pushing weight off our side because it makes you uncomfortable, no one is shaming you personally…they’re shaming a collective that we just happen to be a part of.

You reminded me of a developer of an indie game who was replying to someone pirating their game saying "Culture shouldn't exist only for those who can afford it" it might apply to this, it might not as much, still many points of view from different people.

I know who you’re talking about, and he gave consent, this author didn’t. I don’t have an issue with piracy, but I have an issue with the original commenter trying to offshift blame and frame this as only a top dog issue when we are actively worsening that issue, because like the creator of ULTRAKILL (fire human btw) said you should be able to support if you can- the thing is, MOST PEOPLE ON MANGAGO CAN- they just don’t want to spend the money if it’s freely available and you get nearly the same experience in a timely manner. It’s like how people would excuse SHEIN and say how “poor people buy from SHEIN!!!” When in reality ITS NOT majority poor people, I’m not confused at the piracy.. Mangago receives around 40-50 million visits, the majority of those people aren’t broke. Im saying stand on what you do and don’t use a whole group of marginalized people to cover your ass when corporations already wipe them with theirs.
