Even from Ines pov, she’s not ready for Carcel to know her past. I don’t think readers understand the guilt she feels over killing her own child. She also blames herself for leading an innocent man to his death. Then there’s the part with Oscar that would be difficult for her to reveal.
Ines doesn’t yet realize that Carcel’s love is so unconditional, so eternal and so beyond anything she’s ever experienced. She actually thinks that Carcel wouldn’t continue to love her if he finds out about her ‘sins’.
