this may sound weird, but i’m glad that period-typical racism is shown. i’m saying as someone who is also korean. although realistically, people would discriminate against him even more than what is depicted so he would have to put even more effort to prove himself. it’s only in the modern age where asians are seen as intelligent because of their high standards. back then, immigrants would be treated as being uncivilized (aka “monkeys”) regardless of where they were from… especially if they looked different.
