I know it's dark, but this should have ended with their death. Sometimes there is no happy ending. Sometimes you mess up so bad that what you do is unforgivable and then you die. Reading a true tragedy can invoke much stronger feelings than a forced happy ending.

Even when I read the novel I just didn't like this reincarnation arc. It doesn't feel right, it feels like fanfiction but it's Canon.
