i’ve always been really upset that mahwas don’t really explore the topic of sexuality and homophobia when someone who previously thought they were straight turns out to like men. i’ve always felt like authors who don’t touch on topics like this are missing out on a huge part of what it means to be gay, it’s not just about sex, or about jealousy. THIS IS IT. wanting to be able to be affectionate towards your partner the way everyone else is, struggling to accept that no matter what you do there are people that will be prejudiced towards your sexuality. this is such an important aspect of being gay that some manhwas miss out on because they’re focused on the smut. i love seeing shit like this and i love the communication they have, they’re not mad at each other or distancing themselves, they now that regardless of the homophobia they might experience they will still love each other ykkk. ughhh i love nerd project!!

Yes! I’ve pointed it out before how in BL, its too common that just because the mc and the ml is gay, everyone else around them are gay as well. Not that its an issue for me really, or that I mind it. It was just something I noticed commonly.

i definitely agree sometimes it’s refreshing and cute but it gets to a point where there are 3 side couples and they’re all gay and there’s no homophobia anywhere to be found or all of a sudden their parents are completely okay with it and i’m so ??? but i might be jealous too ngl

idk there definitely is a lot of stories that cover this though. i think there’s a pretty good mix of queer stories that touch on the realities of homophobia, and queer stories that are more of the “escapism” type. i really appreciate both haha, it’s nice to read about a world where a queer couple can live life like other “normal” couples, worrying about jealousy and whatnot instead of the painful reality of having to struggle with homophobia it gives me hope as someone who’s part of the community.

there’s a japanese manga created by a gay man, jnspired by his own experiences, maybe you’d like it ! ^^ it’s called “until i meet my husband” iirc ! it’s a really good, melancholic one.

Bffr, most bls have only the main couple being gay and everyone else is mostly straight or has a hard time accepting the main couple
