He has shown time and time again he doesn’t care for his reputation or what anyone thinks of him. He doesn’t even care for his people or other nobles, he has just been bulldozing his way to get what he wants.
correct me if i'm wrong but isn't the robe he wrapped the uke's shoulder with only worn by the emperor? it's something that signifies his supreme authority that no one but him could touch, yet he constantly uses it as the uke's blanket & even bandaged his injuries with it. black flag or not, this is so sincere & symbolistic. he's essentially sacrificing his status & responsibilities for him.
