Both characters have something they're hiding from their past especially their queerness and so they resent others and themselves for it Both are evil and very masculine

Oh okay yeah i see what u mean. Like this massive rejection of a part of their identity that makes them act wicked to the ppl around them.
In ML case id say instead of lashing out because of inner rejection/turmoil like Nate, hes purely seeking revenge against his abuser in the most criminally sinister way possible.
