well the recs i have, the human partner is aware about the shapeshifting but the plot so good you just gotta love it:

Gimme a romance (bl gl or straight) where one of them or both can and does shapeshift into an animal. Bonus points if the other doesn't know that the animal they know was a human and then finds out later that "oh shit that was a human person"
