
She might have mistaken intimidation for evil. Her parents have droves of it but they are seasoned professionals who don't put personal attachments to their work. Animals can think of everything as personal for their own survival.
Like, for example, my neighborhood cats come to eat and chill in my yard. Except for the one with a bad leg (which is universally not picked on,) they will chase out any newcomers who aren't part of the in group. It doesn't matter to them that there is plenty of food and they eat from separate bowls. They see them as competition.
There's a new kitten and one of the boys will chase her off despite being twice her size and all that is mentioned above. He isn't evil for doing it; he's working in a scarcity mindset, the same one that had kept him "out of the club" a year ago.
Is the ghost probably just an animal experiment like Bond? Maybe a bird? (⊙…⊙ )
