another phenomenal chapter this week (novel+extras spoilers)

man.... ngmy is so cool. her presence in yjh's life is visible in every corner you peer into. we see him open up a lot in this mini-arc; lingering around his new companions, bickering with his master, at ease in the place he was so adamant about not coming to. why was yjh so firm in his denial of returning to the first murim?

her death in that second turn really affected him. her last wish in the yjh birthday extra (those who know.. TT), her reluctance at the idea of yjh doing it all over and becoming her disciple again–it's because she doesn't want him to be alone. she wants him to eat his favourite food surrounded by his favourite people, laze around in the summertime, and bask in the mundane beauty of everyday life. she says this but she KNOWS he will still come and that herself of another turn will unknowingly teach him sky breaking swordsmanship again and that he’ll continue to be lonely, again and again and again. he even tries using the 46th scenario as a prospect to try changing her mind–a sign that she is someone he wholeheartedly trusts. he needs her alongside him.

but, he is not a tree who stands alone. kdj's cruel guilt complex shines through once more in this chapter. he deliberately brought yjh to the first murim because he knew that it would soften his sharp edges; he plays coy, but he truly wants to spoil yjh and show him happiness. though, to kdj, this is a despicable action, an unforgivable betrayal, because ngmy is once more ripped away from yjh. who is he to claim a spot in the forest of yjh's companions?

wishful thinking is fundamental to the basis of orv. there doesn't exist one, single, rigid interpretation of any given fable. perhaps in some other universe, the sky breaking sword saint's wish is fulfilled and yoo joonghyuk got to be truly happy. maybe, in another distant world, kim dokja deserves to stand side by side with his favourite people.
