i mean, if anyone is in school, they really shouldnt be reading an 18+ comic... but yea like the reading comprehension is low. which is surprising because this series doesnt even have a lot of dialogue (so it isnt even about english fluency). its literally people not even trying to figure out what is being unsaid in the way the whole panel are set etc.

tbf im accounting for both minors breaking the rules AND post secondary education.
I kind of agree about the English fluency bit, but I think there is a decent amount in the early chapters that relies on being able to link the text on the page to the subtext in the artwork, and being able to understand some subtleties in English would definitely make comprehension easier.
Noticing in Fire Train and this Manhwa's comments a trend of people not understanding the plot at all, which is understandable but a bit sad.
I didnt fully believe the reports that people are becoming less literate and struggling with reading comprehension, but it seems its kinda true. I mean this with love and genuine concern, if you improve your reading comprehension you'll find yourself enjoying the stories even more!
If you find yourself struggling with these stories that combine subtext with imagery, or have plots that you find complicated, try this:
Someone posted a really good summary of the situation so far (gg_23, comment title "you've come a long way, baby). Read that summary, and then go back to this last chapter (or better yet chapter 1) and reread it. See if you can see what gg_23 is talking about in their comment, try and put the story together yourself. Next chapter, try really hard to put it all together. Take notes if you have to, just practice on improving reading.
If youre still in school, how are you doing in classes related to your main language? How youre being taught or how youre learning in those can be a factor in your struggle here. Same for English classes.
Stay strong, you got this!
