Wait... is this actually based on the Borgia family? Pope Borgia, his son Cesare — who was rumored to have an unhealthy obsession with his sister Lucrezia — and the rumors about incest, etc.?

Or am I just crazy? Or was this a well known thing and I'm just stupid?
