Listen. I really wanted to like this story, I promise, but.. I reread this since it is finally a finished story, and only now did I realize how toxic their relationship actually is- Kyuyeon is honestly really manipulatively taking advantage of people in game and the way that he can cry on command just to get what he wants rubs me the wrong way. He’s cute, sure, but I don’t quite see what Kimin saw in him and how he could fall for him with no bounds when all he did was lie and make up excuses, hurting Kimin on multiple occasions. He just got away with everything without properly fullheartedly apologizing.. well the explanation to that may be within Kimin’s character itself. Kimin is obsessive, posessive and kind of psychotic. Kyuyeon keeps commenting on this creepy/sort of crazy behavior at the start, showing how uncomfortable it all makes him feel. Despite everything Kimin keeps forcing himself onto Kuyeon, who feels sort of threatened and obligated to be with Kimin and do as he asks, scared he’ll use violence or that crazy unpredictable nature of his against him (Example: Kimin threatening he’ll off himself and Kyuyeon if Kyuyeon breaks up, which is really swept under the rug easily just because Kimin is pretty and Kyuyeon likes the attention he receives from him, or how he forbids Kyuyeon to play any online games without him (a thing he really enjoys), or takes his phone without his consent). I was hoping that they both learn to become better people throughout the entirety of this Manwah since they were self-aware about Kimin’s abnormal behavior but sadly it wasn’t really the case. Nobody did something about it, just accepting it and normalizing it all. It just felt like Kyuyeon slowly gave into the obsessive and posessive nature of Kimin and was swept off his feet by the attention he received. I tried really hard to see the good sides of this relationship but ended up disappointed. Kimin promises to take Kyuyeon’s boundaries more seriously near the end but still can’t get over his jealousy, doing whatever he wants, crossing those boundaries anyway (getting the apartment, telling everyone they’re dating anyway despite Kyuyeon being uncomfortable of everyone knowing). It just felt.. weird to me. Their relationship felt unhealthy and forced often, romanticizing that possessiveness to a point where I just got weirded out. It almost felt like stockholm syndrome (might be a bit brutal to compare it with that) how Kyuyeon suddenly “fell in love” with Kimin. Kimin really needs a therapist, I can’t with this “we only need each other, forget about everyone else” mentality.. I I wish it would’ve been better story and character-wise since I really liked the original overall plot. To say something positive: I really like the artstyle though, the artist is really skilled,!the panels are all really pretty to look at and it’s what kept me reading (along with the hope they’ll have some character-development).
