Skylar and Cirrus had their happy childhood and home snatched away which h is usually the first safe haven for any child. I felt like both dealt with their trauma in opposite manner which are both valid. Skylar endured and exhausted himself to the point where he was willing to give up on life just so he wouldn't have to confront his bullies. He kept feeling guilty in every situation and felt that he was disgusting and not worth any effort. Whereas Cirrus kept trying to get validation even from a random stranger no matter for how short period it was, even though he felt still hopeful in his childhood that part kept fizzling out slowly. He became the cynical person who distrusted every interaction with another person may it be a friend or a senior. I actually felt sad for the one childhood friend of his who never tried to belittle him, and treated him like a true companion but she got her trust broken too... . . .
Back to point, Cirrus couldn't let go of the anger and resentment his father caused him and he was so desperate for affection that he felt sad for his dad not caring about him more than the sexual abuse he faced. He definitely tried to take baby steps with amending, maybe some can let go and some can't. We still don't know that. Also Poor Chanil kept getting the slack without any idea what's going on around him. I cracked at his clueless arse. He was saying oh they don't get along and they were full on making out haha. Considering how sweet his parents were and both MC's parents were, it was pretty understandable that both hated him from first sight. He has good intentions but again clueless as fck. But it was also sweet that he was the starting point in both of their lives after the disaster. They started getting a little better after meeting him. I understood When Cirrus kept getting annoyed after noticing Skylar and Him initially. He must have felt his one true friend who accepted him before his imposter era was slipping away. And when he was jealous, he also was mad cause he knew he could never hurt Chanil, even though he kept saying He felt nothing he definitely treated him as his best friend. He could compete with lakhs of scumbags and hurt them but never Chanil. (。ŏ﹏ŏ) . . . . . Up until half of the second season I was waiting eagerly for both of their stories and how it's gonna unfold. But it felt like story was focused on Cirrus 65% and Skylar 35%. Maybe the author couldn't do more because of the injury which is unfortunate. Cirrus got a chance to show full character development and redemption arc. Whereas Skylar's traumas seemed to be left behind. I would understand if he mentioned in the story itself but he accepted it himself that he still hasn't recovered from the deep traumas. I was pretty excited when a panel of His ex friend came up but sadly he never reappeared in the story. So I felt it was unfair for Skylar's character to not get the same flourishment and Healing journey. So many questions about his past and treatment were left unanswered for me. I also wanted to know and see the yearbook. . . . Now in the final season, I am glad to see both of them finally behaving like proper 19/20 years old and breathing freely without the suffocation. Not to forget the friends from the school helped them a lot actually. I'm so glad they're so sweet to accept both of them with open arms and with no awkwardness. ಥ_ಥಥ_ಥ
