Apart from Jk's shitty character (good thing he changes and focuses on Dan's problem)Dan has to do something himself. He's been to the doctor, he knows he has a problem. Hell, he even works as someone who knows a fair amount about medicine, and he shows no desire for any treatment. He focuses too much on his grandmother and others, when he should realize that if he continues like this, he will die before his grandmother. At this point, Jk is more protective of him than he is of himself.
