The issue is that we see ijin and the numbers all the time that normal thugs seem weak to us. Getting overpowered in a 1 vs 3 with men used to killing is normal

Yep some people forget that thugs and killers are two different profession, thugs only kill when needed but hired killers were paid to kill. So of course in a 1vs 3 fight the thugs will lose.
Assassins are also different from hired killers, hired killers were paid to kill but the job is just a normal kill, like they will shoot you stab you without proper planning or clean up later on. Assassins were trained to kill silently without any witnesses and they can join militaries and navies (not that i am saying there are one among them.) but that's how skilled they are in fighting.
Ijin and the numbers were trained MORE THAN HOW NAVIES AND MILITARIES trained their people. They were trained since childhood to make the knowledge engraved to their bone marrows, to make sure that they won't fail. They are hired mercenaries and killers.
This ahjussi actually did good if it's a street fight standard they have knives he dont. And no because your a thug does means you are good at fighting. Some thugs just call themselves thugs because its cool. Anyway, i hope ahjussi dont die
