To me it's a same trope but watching unfold differently. At the beginning we were introduced to Ido as a good partner and thus a soft corner for him was built in our hearts. But later we learn the horrible things he did. Yes, there were miscommunication but how he acted was very extreme. But now the that he's suffering a bit, it looks sad. Reason? As I mentioned at the start of the story we were introduced to a better Ido. If it was like any other of it's kind, starting with abuse, then regret and solving the issues, then people would not be so considerate about him. And I like how perspective can change people's judgment.
