Ugh, what did I just read...
Ok, let's ACTUALLY try to dissect this. Basically, it's a longtime rivalry of ideologies. The top shows the world is full of villains at the top while the bottom while believes in justice. But for justice to prevail, he needs to overtake the top, so he stays with the top to overtake his position, hence why he told his chief he'll pay for his sins as he intends on controlling the group for that and showing cracks of humanity like after stabbing chief...
I... I don't know at this point. At least the victim the bottom tried saving his fine? The author shouldn't delve into topics of humanity, I think.
