i think you’re right bec it happened 40 years ago so if we apply it to real life time that would be in the 80’s and i really don’t see a way to cross communicate with each again if she moved first

Exactly, communication was so analog back then. He must have been sick when he came to Korea. If he left Korea in good health, then I'll side eye him
I don't think he ghosted the mom. I think she knew cause he mentioned a few chapters ago to himself that she didn't wait for him before moving to the country side. Maybe he was unable to get in contact with her after his illness was resolved?
