This is where reading the novel comes in handy, brother did not "mellow out" he felt safe enough to be his true self. When he finds out that Josh has a kid he thinks literally that josh is married/has a partner akready and says he wouldn't mind being a side piece if Josh would still have him

Also I don't think this was included in the manhwa but the reason he is suddenly so protective of Josh is because when they were stranded in the car and Josh asked to kiss him and he said no and Josh respected that. he was literally surprised and was like "damn this is the only nigga that actually respects the choices I make"
